For many of us, Thanksgiving will look noticeably different this year. Some families are skipping traditional trips out of town to visit relatives. Other families are trimming down their guest lists and leaving their table leaves in storage. And others still are turning to virtual ways to connect with their loved ones.

No matter how you’re spending the Thanksgiving holiday, chances are you’ve had to make adjustments to your plans to keep your family safe in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising families against traveling for the holiday and either hosting or attending large gatherings, saying those activities carry an increased risk of catching and spreading the virus. Your best bet is celebrating the occasion at home with your household.

Still, if you’re hosting a gathering, it’s recommended that you keep it low key. If you’re inviting guests over, for instance, the CDC suggests having them gather outside and bring their own food and drinks.
